The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is celebrating its 52nd National Day on December 2, 2023. To mark this occasion, the public sector will have a three-day weekend, from Saturday, December 2 to Monday, December 4. Private sector employees will have a two-day weekend, on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3.
In addition to the extended weekend, there are many events and activities taking place throughout the country to celebrate National Day. These include parades, fireworks displays, and cultural performances.
Fireworks Displays
One of the most popular ways to celebrate National Day is to watch the fireworks displays. There will be fireworks displays in many cities and towns across the UAE, including:
Abu Dhabi
- Yas Island: Yas Bay Waterfront: 9pm, December 2
- Al Maryah Island: The Promenade: 9pm, December 2-3
- Sheikh Zayed Festival, Al Wathba, December 2-3 (Celebrations run from 4pm to 1am)
- Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental: Hotel beachfront / Abu Dhabi Corniche: 9pm, December 2
Dubai
- Global Village :Fireworks Avenue: December 1-2, 9pm
Sharjah
Sharjah National Park will host the main event and opening from November 28 to December 3. It will include theatrical performances, workshops, interactive competitions, and other activities. There will also be celebrations in Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan, Al Bataeh area, Kalba, and Heritage Village.
Other National Day Activities
In addition to watching the fireworks, there are many other things to do to celebrate National Day. These include:
