Sharjah Fort, also known as Al Hisn Fort, was built in 1823 by Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the then ruler of Sharjah. The fort was built for two main reasons:

- To serve as the residence of the Al Qasimi ruling family.
The fort played an important role in the history of Sharjah. It was a symbol of the city’s power and prosperity. The fort was also a place where people from all walks of life came together, including merchants, artisans, and scholars.
